The Good Samaritan Shelter is blessed to be able to reach out and help the community around our shelters. We do this in many different ways. We often provide community members with food and supplies. We also are intentional about helping phone callers access services that can help them. We do not want to just say ‘We can’t help you’ and hang up the phone. We have a heart to help, and do it any and every way we can.

Community Impact

Phone calls
: Throughout the course of the year we will receive several hundred phone calls from people looking for help. Many of the people who call are seeking shelter. Because our homes are often full we are not always in a position to help. When this happens, we add them to our waiting list, and then refer them to another local shelters or housing programs which can help them. In some cases we are able to prevent homelessness by connecting a caller with a program that can support them.

Clothing: We always have an abundance of clothing in our offices for residents to take. Residents and locals are welcome to come in and look for anything that might fit and take it.

Computers and phone: At our offices in Phoenixville we have four computers in the office. When are residents are not using them, we often let people from the community use them. Also, our phone and fax machine are often in use by local community members.

Food: At certain times of the year, we are blessed with an abundance of food. When this happens we open our doors and share our bounty.
